I went through high school, college, and graduate school breezing along on the hunt and peck system. My Dad always fussed at me, saying that I should learn to type the correct way.
With the advent of computers in the workplace in the 1990’s I had to learn to type and Mavis Beacon taught me how. 80 on big discs and set to it. Now I type between 45 and 60 words per minute and owe it all to Mavis. She never gets angry, never makes cutting remarks. Whatever age you are she’ll give you work at the appropriate level. I’m getting ready to order the Platinum 20 Program to keep up and possibly improve my typing skills. Mavis is so good, I honestly can’t think of a program that’s second best.
I bought “Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing” for my 8 and 10 year old girls. After working the lessons for about an hour my oldest daughter mastered the finger keys and after only a few more lessons is really typing! My kids love the games part of the CD but it all so clearly laid out with very simple instructions that my 8 year old is getting the hang of it. There are free internet programs but none are as good as this. I bought mavis beacon for my child inorder for him to master typing. I didn’t know it has a lot of games that my child always play it.
